This village in the Swabian Jura is renowned for its beautiful rocky décor, and more particularly for its deep blue pool (Blautopf) formed by a natural embankment of glacial origin. The abbey church is especially noteworthy, with its stalles and the fine altarpiece of Blauberen (choir). This is the work of a group of workshops in Ulm (15C) representing Christ's Passion, the life of John the Baptist, and the Virgin between the saints.
