In 1852 the foundations of an immense Roman villa built in the 2C or 3C AD, with a 120-m façade, were discovered on a splendid site in the Moselle Valley. See the magnificent mosaic floor of the main hall (16 x 10m). In an admirable state of preservation, it depicts scenes of gladiatorial combat between men and beasts. A damaged cartouche has been replaced by a panel explaining the restoration.
