Abbeydale : Michelin's recommendations
As early as 1714, scythes were being forged under water-powered tilt hammers in this very old industrial hamlet. A furnace was installed early in the 19C and clay crucibles were made on site. The works ceased production in 1933 and became a museum in 1970. The manager's house, workmen's cottages, forge, grinding hull, water wheels and riveting shop are open to visitors.
