Battle
: Michelin's recommendations
It was at the top of Battle Hill that the Normans won the famous Battle of Hastings, on 14 October 1066, against the English Army of King Harold. You can see the remains of the commemorative abbey built by William the Conqueror. The small village standing at the foot of the hill was built to serve the abbey and was named Battle in honour of the event.
