Burford : Michelin's recommendations

Set in the Cotswolds, Burford was once a wool trade centre and later an important coaching town. It declined from 1812 onwards, when a turnpike road (now the A40) bypassed it. It has a wealth of beautifully preserved buildings that are nearly all of Cotswold limestone. Today, Burford offers visitors an archetypal example of a Cotswold town. Its only main street descends to the pretty River Windrush before crossing it.
