The collection of decorative art and painting includes a gallery dedicated to the Victorian animal painter Thomas Sydney Cooper (1803-1902), who came from Canterbury. The Buffs Museum celebrates the Royal East Kent Regiment, whose soldiers were called Buffs because of the buff-coloured lining of their red tunics. The exhibition tells the military history of England from the 16 to 20C.
