Castleton : Michelin's recommendations
Castleton stands in the northern part of the Peak District National Park and is the ideal starting point for exploring the local caves. These are natural, or lead-mining galleries, or a mixture of both. William Peveril built a stone castle here soon after the Norman Conquest. Today, the ruined keep, mostly built in the 12C, still dominates the village.
