Chagford : Michelin's recommendations
This medieval market town was one of four Devon towns to be granted a charter to mine tin in the Middle Ages. It overlooks the Teign Valley, offering very fine views of the rocky tors and Castle Drogo. In the shadow of the belltower (15C), the market place is lined with small granite or whitewashed houses, a 13C-16C inn, and covered market of antiquated charm called the Pepperpot.
