The old town is dense and surrounded by parkland from two large estates: the abbey, which was totally destroyed during the Dissolution, whose gardens lead to the pretty Churn, and Cirencester Park, a fine French garden with Broad Avenue that leads through nearly 8 km of countryside. The large house jealously guards its privacy, displaying only a high wall surrounded by even higher yew trees.
