: Michelin's recommendations
Conwy Castle, a masterpiece of medieval architecture, was supplied from the sea, as were the other Welsh castles built by Edward I (king from 1272 to 1307). It was built between 1283 and 1287. Eight massive drum towers with pinnacled battlements protect the two wards of the castle. The inner ward with the royal apartments was approached by water, and the large outer ward from the town. The two sections were connected by the Middle Gate.
