: Michelin's recommendations
This little town, where dark stone buildings cluster around the market square, is in the beautiful Mawddach Valley in the middle of Snowdonia National Park. Cadair Idris, although less than 900m high, is one of the most challenging mountains in Britain. It is best climbed by the Minffordd Path that starts on the southern flank. Precipice Walk, a marked footpath not far from the village, affords magnificent views of the mountains.
