Heysham : Michelin's recommendations
Today, Heysham is a port serving Ireland and the Isle of Man, and the site of a nuclear power station equipped with two gas-cooled reactors. The headland overlooking Heysham harbour has six graves cut into the rockface, probably by 8C Irish monks. The remains of the Saxon St Patrick's Chapel lie nearby.

Below the headland stands St Peter's Church, of Saxon origin but considerably rebuilt. It contains an Anglo-Norman hogback tombstone (south aisle) decorated with details from Norse mythology and Christian symbols.
