Roman Palace
Roman Palace
: Michelin's recommendations
The most sumptuous Roman Villa ever uncovered in England, built in around 75 AD and supposedly the residence of Cogidubnus. Mosaic pavements were superimposed as designs were modified with the changing Roman fashions, until 3 AD when the palace was destroyed by fire. Discovered in 1960, the north wing contains superb mosaics and exhibits displaying the luxurious life-style of the Roman elite.
