A succession of massive brick warehouses surround a 3 ha expanse of water. Built in 1846, the year in which free-trade was instated then axed for good in 1972, this area has now been given a new lease of life thanks to the introduction of shops, cafés, accommodation, a marine museum and an annex of the Tate Gallery.
