Llandudno
: Michelin's recommendations
Safe sandy beaches make this a popular family holiday resort. It is also a good base from which to explore Snowdonia National Park. The town developed in the 1850s on a narrow neck of land with beaches on both sides. The seafront’s fine promenade is backed by a harmonious row of pale stucco hotels. Serving as a breakwater, the Anglo-Indian style pier was built in 1875. The top of the Great Orme (207m) can be reached by the old tramway (or on foot) and has fine views of the coast and mountains.
