  Pros

  This restaurant is run very professionally. Service is prompt and pleasant despite the extremely busy environment and close-spaced tables. Pleasant but unexceptional 3-course lunch.

  Cons

  Prices are high, even by Central London standards. Automatic imposition of a 12½% service charge is unwelcome. Rather enthusiastic portion control - the set menu may not suit those with hearty appetites!

  Pros

  The fish here is always excellent, and the service beyond reproach. It always has a buzzy but homely ambience. Have been coming here ever since the refurbishment about 12 years ago and pleased to say despite various management changes, John and Mark keep the ship on course.

  Wine prices seem to be escalating a bit!!

  Pros

  Took the decision to have a pre theatre meal here and was well looked after to the extent that our order was priority and we received attentive service to make our performance. The food was of a very good standard and the flavors were allowed to speak for themselves. The delicate spicing in the Monkfish and Tiger Prawn curry was particularly noteworthy. Equally beautifully flavored was the Cod cheeks and Tongue with wild mushroom.

  Cons

  Sad to say the prices here were very high for food that showed little cookery skill or technique. £100 (including 2 glasses of the house white) for two people which included a fish pie and a salad of few key ingredients represents poor value. Equally disappointing was the charge for a side of green beans. Have been quite prepared to pay top Michelin star price for food and although this has none it's priced as if it was considered very high end. Yes the ingredients are the freshest and most flavorsome, and their sourcing is probably a contributory factor, but for us the pricing does not seem justifiable.

  I have been going to this restaurant ever since it opened in its present incarnation just over 10 years ago. It has consistently retained the character originally established bu Corbin and King, and Mark Hix who was until fairly recently the exec chef. The quality of the fish (and game in season) is outstanding and with rare exception cooked to perfection. John the MD is possibly the most highly strung control freak in the business, but he knows his business and his regulars.

  Cons

  Even for regulars getting a table can be difficult and some of the wine prices have risen to unattainable levels.

  A due passi reali dalla stazione della metro Leicester square, in una zona deliziosa e piena di locali ma senza traffico e caos tipici di Piccadilly (il British museum si raggiunge a piedi con una bella passeggiata di 15 minuti). Il pranzo del fine settimana è alla portata di ogni tasca, con 35 sterline a testa si scelgono (tra 3) antipasto, piatto principale e dolce, tutto squisito, con una presentazione impeccabile e in porzioni generose, compresi acqua, coperto, tasse e mancia obbligatoria. Consigliatissimi l'uovo alla benedict e il tortino di pesce della casa, ma attenzione che scotta! Le specialità sono frutti di mare, ostriche, aragosta. L'ambiente è elegante ma non pretenzioso; prenotate sul loro sito con almeno 1 settimana di anticipo, per essere sicuri, sia per il ristorante sia per il posto al bancone dell'oyster bar (meraviglioso!). Avrete a disposizione il tavolo per 2 ore. Sul sito troverete anche il menù, la carta dei vini e il menù speciale del week-end lunch.

  Always eat here after the theatre, and always enjoy it, but last night was the first partial exception because of the very grumpy reception: brushed off twice several minutes apart when I tried to check in with very tetchy "Just a minute!". No please or sorry, which got the meal off to a very poor start.
