Situated in Southwark, Merrick Square is an interesting early 19C square. The houses here are more modest than in the rest of the district. The square was named after the merchant who sold the land in 1661 to the Corporation of Trinity House, a body that was responsible for maintaining seamarks and the welfare of mariners.
