Part of the third phase of the South Bank’s development downstream from Waterloo Bridge, Denys Lasdun’s design houses three theatres, bars and foyers and is a meeting place for theatre lovers, poets, musicians and all manner of artists. In front of the theatre is a large sculpture, London Pride by Dobson created for the Festival of 1951 and a stone sculpture, Arena by J Maine (1983-1984).
