Burlington House is the home of the Royal Academy of Arts, which, founded in 1768, first occupied Somerset House. Learned societies occupy the left wing. The central block is devoted to the Academy (40 members), the collections of which are displayed in the Private Rooms and comprise canvases by its members (Reynolds, Gainsborough, Constable and Turner), 18C furnishings, a Madonna by Michelangelo and the famous copy of Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper.
