St Marylebone : Michelin's recommendations

This church (1817), designed by T. Hardwick, includes a three-storeyed tower topped by a cupola. The Corinthian portico with pediment was added to pleasantly complete the view from Regent's Park. It was here that Robert Browning (1812-1889) illicitly married the poet Elizabeth Barrett in 1846. A carved panel representing characters from six major works by Dickens reminds us that the novelist lived in a house close by.
