Located in a former slate quarry, the Centre for Alternative Technology is a pioneering establishment that has been inventing, testing and promoting ecological ideas since its inception in 1973. An electric train leads to an array of installations demonstrating the virtues of wind, solar and water power which are both convincing and entertaining. The organically maintained parkland owes nothing to picturesque ideals, but rather proclaims the beauty of an earth-friendly aesthetic.
