These 23 ha gardens, originally laid out by Thomas Gray but left to grow wild, have been gradually restored. They include Flora's Garden (rhododendrons), a walled vegetable garden, an orchard, the "Jungle" (exotic trees planted in the 19C) and "The Lost Valley" (indigenous species and a water meadow).
