: Michelin's recommendations
The upper stonekeep has more or less kept its original character, retaining its roman arches, oratorio and well (34m deep). A guided visit takes you from the crenellations to the oubliettes (secret dungeons) and retraces the History of Norwich.
The art gallery, created in 19C by the local painter John Crome (1768-1821) has a collection of works from the Norwich school, as well as many pieces of porcelain and a fossil skeleton of the West Runton elephant - some 600,000 yrs old.
