The town centre has several Georgian and Regency houses, including a covered market, the Egyptian House (1835), Abbey House, and Admiral Benbow. There are museums including Cornwall Geology Museum, Penlee House Gallery and Museum and the Maritime Museum, containing weapons, instruments and treasures from the sea.
