Barbican : Michelin's recommendations
Parts of Old Plymouth still exist in the Barbican, an area extending inland from Sutton Harbour, where modern developments and medieval houses, Jacobean doorways and cobbled alleys rub shoulders. The Mayflower Stone on the pier commemorates the voyage of the Pilgrim Fathers who set sail in their 27 m ship, the Mayflower, in 1620. Other famous crossings are commemorated in the numerous stones and plaques on the pier.
