Verulamium Interesting : Michelin's recommendations

Verulamium was one of the largest cities in Roman Britain. It was founded in AD 49 and rebuilt at least twice, once after being sacked in AD 61 and again in AD 155 after a major fire. The site was excavated in the 1930s and in the 1950s. The museum provides a fascinating glimpse of Roman life. The Roman Theatre is almost round. The bath suite (hypocaust) of a large villa, two bastions of the town walls and the foundations of the London Gate can also be seen.
