Saltaire Travel guide
Saltaire : Michelin's recommendations
The model village was entirely conceived and built by Sir Titus Salt (1803-1876), a Bradford industrialist who made a fortune from the weaving of alpaca and other rare fibres. On a 20ha site, he provided his workers with employment, decent housing, education and leisure facilities, but a village pub was conspicuous by its absence.
