In a pink and grey granite building by AM Mackenzie, this collection focuses on contemporary works, as well as examples by local artists including William Dyce (a precursor of the Pre-Raphaelites) and William McTaggart (whose style is evocative of the Impressionists). Representative of the 19C is the Macdonald Collection of 92 portraits by British artists. There are large-scale sculptures on display in the courtyard and adjacent halls.
