This strung-out village is an agglomeration of the formerly separate settlements of Cellardyke, Anstruther Easter and Anstruther Wester. Although crab and crayfish are still fished using baskets and white-flesh fish are caught from here, most fishermen are now based at Pittenweem (1.6km to the west), which has become the port of registry for all East Neuk trawlers.
