Greenhill Covenanting Museum Interesting : Michelin's recommendations

The exhibits and souvenirs on display in this reconstruction of a 17C farm relate the story of the religious persecution at the time of the Solemn Pact. The obligation to use the Anglican prayer book in the Cathedral of St Giles in Edinburgh led to the signature of the Pact in 1638 when the Covenanters swore to defend the prescripts of the Presbyterian Church. The subsequent conflict between the Covernanters and Royalists was to continue until the 1680s.
