Brechin Travel guide
Brechin : Michelin's recommendations
This cathedral city developed around a Celtic monastery above a fording point on the River South Esk. The Cairn o'Mount Road is a route of around fifty kilometres from Brechin to Banchory, passing through a beautiful landscape of rolling hills and several villages, including the cluster of red sandstone houses that is Fettercairn. The nearby Fasque Castle is a good example of Victorian architecture. The Cairn o'Mount (454m) itself makes for a superb viewpoint.
