Collieston : Michelin's recommendations

This former fishing village, nestling in a sandy bay, is now a seaside resort. Not far away, the pink granite ruins of New Slains Castle, built c 1600, stand on a clifftop. Inland is the visitor centre for the Sands of Forvie and Ythan Estuary Nature Reserve. The dunes and mudflats are used by waterfowl for wintering and as a breeding ground.
