The cottages of this tiny village in Gamrie Bay stand facing the sea only a few metres from the shore. The rocky headland nearby, Troup Head, has cliffs over 100m high. Just to the east is the windswept Castle Point, reached by a narrow isthmus. This place was fortified continuously between the 7C and the 18C. Fort Fiddes is its most recent addition. There are magnificent views of the coastline and cliffs from here.
