Castle
: Michelin's recommendations
This formidable castle overlooks Ardoch Burn and the Teith. It was built in the late 14C by Robert Stewart, Duke of Albany and his son, Murdoch, successively regents of the country during the captivity of James I in England. The outstanding feature of the castle's defences is its keep-gatehouse. The fortress was also a noble residence with apartments and storehouses laid out with a degree of comfort unusual for the times.
