Traverse the island of Scotland and witness many of the icons for which the country is known. See kilts, bagpipes, and a Scottish distillery to witness the making of 'usquebauch”—Gaelic for The Water of Life.
Set out from Edinburgh and head north over the Forth Road Bridge, admiring the sweeping views of the Forth Rail Bridge. Continue through the dramatic countryside to the banks of the River Tay, the city of Perth, and Dunkeld—a small conservation town on the banks of the river and in the shadow of a ruined 13th-century cathedral. Set on the site of a 9th-century monastery, part of the original cathedral is still used as a local church. Wander the area and walk along the river, or stroll to the Atholl Fountain of the "Olde Worlde" square, home to craft shops, cafes, and hotels.
Hop back on the motor coach and head to the Hermitage, perhaps the most beautiful woodland walk in Perthshire. Explore Ossians Hall, an 18th-century mirrored summerhouse overlooking a magnificent waterfall and to some of the tallest trees in the country.
Continuing through beautiful highland countryside, reach the oldest distillery in Scotland—the Glenturret—home of the Famous Grouse, the bestselling whisky in Scotland. Grab a quick lunch in the Famous Restaurant before joining the Flight of the Grouse, an interactive tour of Scotland that leads up to a traditional distillery tour and a tasting straight from the cask.
Retrace your steps before driving through Gleneagles, home of the world famous hotel and golf course. Continue into the Kingdom of Fife, where you reach Dunfermline, burial place to many of the Kings crowned at Scone Palace. Stop one last time for photos at the Forth Bridge before heading back to Edinburgh.
