Edinburgh New Town 1767-1830 : Michelin's recommendations

Young architect James Craig (1710-1795) was entrusted with the task of extending Edinburgh. Once North Bridge was built over the valley, splendid squares and streets with geometrical lines were laid out: George Street, the central street, Princes Street to the south and Queen Street to the north. The harmony of the buildings is remarkable, with decorative details galore lending a unique character to the new town, which quickly extended outwards with many green spaces kept. A great success!
