This classic walled garden - one of the rare ones to be seen in Scotland - was designed in 1604 by Sir David Lindsay who also planned the castle's interior courtyard. Its design comes from ideas that flourished during this time of peace that was the Renaissance. A cultured and well-travelled man, Sir David had elegant tastes without comparison in Scotland.
