This snow-covered mass of granite (1,344 m altitude) is the highest mountain in Britain, but it is not a smooth climb. It is however very popular with walkers and climbers alike and at the summit, there is a war memorial. There was once a hotel here ..

This local museum covers a wide range of subjects. The most interesting are those based around local industries, the Caledonian Canal and Ben Nevis, the old fort and Jacobite souvenirs.
