Glamis Castle is a shining example of a Scottish Castle and is also associated with the Royal Family (it is a residence of the Queen Mother's family) and with literary history. Seen from the end of a tree-lined avenue, the castle is very impressive. It is surrounded by towers, turrets, conical roofs and chimney stacks, and the central building has windows that seem to have been placed haphazardly.
