At an altitude of 518m, the visitor centre has excellent audio-visual information on the mountain, its formation and rare species of alpine flora. Access to the mountain’s paths is restricted to protect the environment, but there is a nature trail (1hr 30min) which takes in some of the more unusual plants. The climb to the top of Ben Lawers (5hr there and back) is feasible for those suitably equipped. On the way down there are fine views of Loch Tay.
