A few gabled houses with terraces from the 16 and 17C remain on this street, proof of Linlithgow's commercial heyday. In Annet House, The Linlithgow Story emphasises the links between the town and royalty and its commercial development. The site of the former western gate of the town is marked by West Port House, a three-storey L-shaped house (c. 1600) with spiral staircase.
