The large ruins of Tantallon Castle, perched on a splendid clifftop, continue to defy the waves and the eastern wind. This fortress was part of the great house of the Douglas family.
Built in the late 14C and modified in the 16C, Tantallon is one of the great walled castles. The courtyard wall is 15 m high and links the guardroom to the circular towers, isolating the promontory.
