This 50 ha park along the west bank of the River Tay is mainly given over to sports facilities. Note the dome of the Bell Sports Centre built in 1978. Few survived the great Battle of the Clans fought here in 1396 between 30 champions of the Chattan and Kay Clans, the tale of which was related by Scott in The Fair Maid of Perth. Robert III and the Queen were present, housed in the adjoining Dominican monastery which once stood at the south end of the park.
