This village is in the far south of Lewis and Harris. St Clement's Church contains the outstanding tomb of the man who built it, Alexander MacLeod (d 1546). The recess is decorated with carvings of the Twelve Apostles, the Virgin and Child flanked by two bishops, a hunting scene, a castle and galley (emblem of the Lords of the Isles).
