Forth Bridges Recommended Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

By the 17C, the ferry across the Forth was the busiest crossing in Scotland. However, it was a full two centuries later that the first bridge was built over the river at this point. Begun in 1883, the Forth Rail Bridge was inaugurated in 1890. The slim, elegant form of the suspension Road Bridge with its amazing "curve", was built between 1958 and 1964. The bridge has two 7m-wide carriageways, cycle paths and pathways. The esplanade at South Queensferry is an excellent viewing point for the Forth Bridges.
