Uig : Michelin's recommendations

Uig is a settlement tucked away in a bay on the western side of Lewis and Harris. After a storm in 1831, the Lewis Chessmen - 80 chess pieces carved from walrus ivory, of Norse origin and dating from the mid-12C - were found in a sandbank. The demonic expressions of the kings, queens, knights and bishops were said to have terrified the finder. They are on display in the British Museum in London.
