  Our first visit of three during our week's stay. All nine of us thought the food exceptional. Local produce, perfectly cooked. A warm welcome and great service. Superb.

  Great restaurant, very high quality food, warm and welcoming service. Definitely worth the trip.

  Cons

  Not cheap, not supposed to be, and it's worth it. In high season, be sure to book some weeks ahead.

  This was the second time in two weeks that we ate at The Whitehouse, and we had a wonderful meal on each occasion. The ingredients are locally sourced and of a really high quality, and the menu reflects what's available on a daily and seasonal basis. The dived scallops were the best we've ever eaten.

  Extremely well executed meals from the freshest of local ingredients - scallops, langoustines, estate venison, Aberdeen Angus beef, local herbs etc. Varied menu and charming host offering the perfect level of attention. Certainly worth making a (long) detour to Lochaline for. In summary, some of the best food I have eaten, including when compared with some of the UK's finest restaurants.

  Cons

  Very low key decor and building but frankly this adds to the rustic charm. It is the food that counts. Do not change anything.

  Food locally sourced. Scallops and langoustines fresh from the sea. Chef/host couldn't have been more welcoming, or have provided better service. Brilliant.
