The capital of the island has retained its unarguable originality in the face of the British resorts, the long line of Victorian and Edwardian hotels along the sea, and the sandy bay. Behind the seafront, the Manx Museum has some fine early Christian sculptures, including a rare Crucifixion from the 9C from the Isle of Calf of Man. The galleries of popular traditions include a reconstruction of a Manx farm.
