Assembly Rooms : Michelin's recommendations

Designed by Richard Boyle, third count of Burlington, and built in 1731, these rooms include an Egyptian Room of admirable proportions, with Corinthian columns and clear windows. The rooms were devoted to dancing and games following the development of society in York. The city also had a stagecoach service that ran to and from London three times a week.
