Castle Howard Recommended Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

With its 24m-high dome, Castle Howard is John Vanbrugh's masterpiece. The statues, such as those in the entrance, were among the objects the 4th Count of Carlisle had shipped backfrom Italy. Among these treasures are the altar from the Temple of the Oracle in Delphi. At the top of the stairs is a splendid display of porcelains (note the Dutch tulip vase from 1704). Wander into the Great Hall, Music Room, Tapestry Room and the Long Gallery (with paintings by Van Dyck and Holbein).

    Pros
